1. Principles of building acoustic regulations

The French approach to providing buildings with a minimum acoustic quality is original compared to that of other European countries: the owner of a residential building undertakes, in his building permit application file, to comply with the general construction rules set out in the French Construction and Housing Code, and compliance with these rules can be checked by the authorities at the end of the work. In the event of non-compliance, the owner may be required to carry out remedial work.
