3. Conclusion

For all existing elevators, a new system has been introduced which harmonizes with the one already in place for new elevators.

Gradually modernized to take account of the existing situation, maintained to a higher standard, and subject to periodic technical inspections, France's elevator fleet will be able to be used more safely by all users, for whom the elevator has become an indispensable piece of equipment. In fact, a significant reduction in the number of accidents has been observed in recent years following the implementation of safety measures.

In addition to this essential improvement in safety, the improvement in stopping precision provided for in the regulations resulting from the 2003 law is essential in terms of accessibility, and provides energy savings in the case of the installation of an electric speed variation system....
