2.1 Evolution and role of facade products

Paints and varnishes no longer only have a decorative function as their main purpose, but must also fulfill a variety of functions such as waterproofing, insulation and protection against ever-increasing or new aggressions. In the field of rendering, for example, Silexore, created in 1857, was the only product used until the 1950s. Application difficulties made it unsuitable for modern applications. Replaced by vinyl acetate paints with varying degrees of success, it was definitively eliminated by acrylic resins such as Pliolite (registered trademark Good Year).
