4. Conclusion

LED technology is now mature enough to address certain interior lighting applications:

• ambiance ;

• worktop ;

• of passage ;

• dedicated to lighting beacons. But we'll have to wait for further improvements in luminous efficiency (guaranteeing acceptable colorimetric qualities at the same time) to see this technology establish itself as an alternative to current technologies.

The many international research programs launched in the United States and Europe are designed to establish standards and tools that will enable integrators to use this technology under the best possible conditions. They also aim to curb the "invasion" of poor-quality products that would hinder the development of this technology.
