8. Glossary

Caulking

Sealing of a joint between two elements, e.g. wall/window frame, whose main function is to ensure water and/or air tightness. This type of caulking is often referred to as a gasket.

Certification

Quality mark awarded to products meeting technical specifications defined in a reference system.

Sleeper

Frame attached to the shell. One or more sashes are attached to the window frame.

Durability

The ability of a material/product/work to maintain its mechanical, sealing, functional and appearance properties over time.

Extrusion

Shaping the material by passing it through a die to give it its final form.
