3. Transmission of diffuse radiation

The transmission of diffuse radiation can be dealt with using the complementary tools presented here.

First of all, diffuse radiation exists in two forms:

  • diffused overcast " CIE " ;

  • the "serene sky" diffusion, when the sun is present in the sky.

See also sky luminance (fig. 20, p. 15).

These two forms are very different. Diffuse CIE sky radiation is fairly evenly distributed across all angular zones...
