Bringing up to standard: The act of modifying a construction or structure to make it compatible with current building regulations.

Reinforce: Increase the strength of a structure by modifying its elements or topology.

Stabilize : Improve or restore the stability of all or part of the construction.

Adding functional elements: The act of adding circulation elements such as balconies, staircases or elevators to an existing building.
