4. Partial pressure. Saturation pressure
In a gas mixture consisting of air and water vapor, the partial pressure of water vapor is, by definition, "the pressure that water vapor would have if it alone occupied the entire volume of the mixture under consideration". It is referred to as "P p ".
The partial pressure of water vapor is a function that increases rapidly with temperature (Mariotte's law: PV ≥ nRT ≥ constant, a rigorous law for perfect gases).
At a given temperature, injecting water vapour into a given volume will produce a maximum partial pressure, which is the limit at which the water vapour remains in the vapour state.
