4. Conclusions and outlook

The aim of this collection of techniques and results was to show that civil engineering was not only receptive to the possibilities offered by NDT methods, but was also following developments in the same way as other sectors.

This being the case, the various NDT methods and techniques we have just presented, most of which are based on the exploitation of the propagation properties, wave-matter interaction or transparency of materials to mechanical and/or electromagnetic waves, and may be equipped with wired or wireless data communication devices, provide managers with the means to control, monitor the behavior or diagnose the condition of materials and structures, from their origin through to their current use.
