1. Sinistrability

While some wooden structures have proven their ability to withstand the test of time, others have come to the attention of insurance companies before the end of the ten-year guarantee period.

The claims ratio for timber frame construction is 3% in number and 2.5% in cost, compared with construction claims costing between 5 kF and 1 MF (see Table A). ). By way of comparison, the loss ratio for facades is 12% and for roofs 25%.

These are usually failures of small and medium-sized structures, or local damage to larger structures.

Statistics on claims in excess of 1 million francs are either not available or not disclosed. Such cases of pathology are rare, and may involve large-scale structures, or commercial premises where considerable non-material damage is added to the material damage.
