1. Builder liability
The legal system of builder's liability imperatively applies to all constructions built on behalf of private individuals. Builders of public buildings, on the other hand, are subject to the "principles" governing these responsibilities.
1.1 Legal regime
The French law of January 4, 1978 on liability and insurance in the construction industry, codified in the Civil Code as far as liability is concerned, institutes three types of "liability" and "guarantees":
decennial liability (C. civ., art. 1792, 1792-2 and 1792-4-1);
