4. Cements with additional standardized characteristics
For certain types of structure, requirements relating to the characteristics of cements may be necessary; these are covered by specific standards.
4.1 Cements for work at sea
Not all cements have the same resistance to chemical attack in the marine environment, so it's essential to use cements with good resistance characteristics.
These cements contain limited amounts of tricalcium aluminate (C3A), giving the concrete greater resistance to sulfate ion attack in the presence of chloride ions, both during and after setting.
