4.1 Building challenge

With an average annual primary energy consumption of 240 kWh/m 2 in existing buildings, compared to 50 kWh/m 2 in new buildings, construction is one of the keys to achieving significant energy savings and thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This effort would also reduce energy bills, lower costs for households and managers, improve the well-being of occupants, and give new impetus to employment in the building sector.

New buildings are becoming increasingly environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Maximizing energy savings is a challenge that must be met by building owners and developers in order to achieve France's climate goals...
