4. Insulating glass pathologies

Several optical phenomena can be observed in insulating glass. However, not all of them indicate a manufacturing defect in the glazing.

4.1 Brewster's colorful bangs

Brewster bangs are colored bangs resulting from the decomposition of light into rainbows. When surfaces are of very good quality, i.e. very flat and of uniform thickness, the different components of reflected white light, colored according to wavelength, interfere and, under natural light, produce a set of colored bangs that can be observed both by transparency and reflection.
