2. Corrosion mechanism

This section presents the different mechanisms of corrosion.

2.1 General

Iron is highly sensitive to an oxygenated active medium, and its surface becomes a zone of intense ionic exchange, between one pole ( ), the anode, and one pole ( + ), the cathode. We then progressively observe the "consumption" of the anode according to the following reaction:
