2.1 General rules
The general design rules for straw-bale construction are similar to those for conventional construction. However, it is essential to take into account a number of weathering factors specific to this material, which can reduce thermal and acoustic performance, as well as the durability of the structure.
These factors are as follows:
insufficient straw density;
deterioration of siding ;
water penetration of the wall ;
airtightness;
penetration and internal blocking of steam;
water vapour condensation and water migration by capillary action....
