4. Fireplaces with closed hearths – Wood fuel

This chapter deals with flues and chimneys fitted with a closed fireplace or insert, using wood exclusively as fuel. The following provisions relate only to specifications specific to this type of fireplace, some of which are common to those for open fireplaces.

4.1 Sizing

  • Smoke pipe

    Provisions are identical to those for open fireplaces.

  • Fresh air supply

    The operation of a fireplace equipped with a closed hearth or insert requires an additional air supply to that necessary for the regulatory renewal of air in the room (decree of March 24, 1982).
