2. Non-recursive filter synthesis

As a general rule, there are four steps:

  • solving the approximation problem to determine the filter coefficients that satisfy a given frequency template;

  • choice of structure and quantization of filter coefficients into a finite number of bits ;

  • quantization of filter variables, i.e. choice of word length for :

    • entrance,

    • exit,

    • intermediate memories ;

  • simulation to check that the final filter meets the specified template.
