2. DVB-T receiver

The receiver synoptic is shown in figure 10 .

The front end consists of a tuner (RF & IF) and an ADC (analog-to-digital converter) as shown.

AGC (automatic gain control) maintains a constant output level for different input levels and RF frequencies, enabling the CAN converter to operate over its full range. It's a compromise between signal clipping and quantization noise.

To introduce negligible noise into the signal, an 8-bit "true" ADC is required. To achieve this, a 10-bit ADC is generally used (this is for a system operating in 2K and 8K modes).
