2.1 Standards and recommendations
The recommendations specify the position of speakers and listeners in multichannel sound, and are issued by international professional bodies such as the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) [EBU 3276], the AES (Audio Engineering Society) [AESTD1001] and the SMPTE (Society for Motion Picture and Television Engineers) [SMPTE RP200]. All recommend the same layout, which applies to post-production, mixing, PAD (Ready-to-Air) program verification and home listening (figure 10 ).
