Although there are many analogies between the mechanisms of visual perception of space and auditory modes, the auditory approach to space cannot be approached in the same way as the visual approach due to two fundamental differences:
the visual field is frontal and its perception inhomogeneous, whereas the sound field occupies the whole space and is perceived uniformly;
visual perception of space is independent of the environment, whereas auditory perception changes radically depending on whether listening takes place in an open field or an enclosed space.
