Enhancement and restoration are two processing approaches that can be used to improve the appearance of images. There is no fundamental difference between these processes, but if there were to be one, it would be this: in the first case, the aim is to obtain a visual improvement (there is not necessarily any major modification of the information, it's primarily a new interpretation); in the second, the aim is to remove elements (noise) in order to reconstruct new ones. This section begins with approaches in the classical (spatial) domain, as opposed to the frequency domain (Fourier domain).
