9. Conclusion

In this article, we have attempted to demonstrate the importance of random processes in many engineering applications, both from the point of view of the foundations that allow us to formalize randomness and from the point of view of the applicable techniques. Many points have been left aside, such as the notions of ergodicity or random graphs for the technique, or statistical learning for the applications. Similarly, the examples chosen to illustrate the subject are only a small sample of many possible ones, which the reader can easily imagine in his or her own field of expertise. These examples have also shown that all these techniques and applications, although they have a long history, generally spanning several decades, are still evolving, with many questions still unresolved.
