3. Optimal radar signal filtering

3.1 Challenges in Radar Reception in the Presence of Noise

The signal received and amplified by a radar receiver is a composite signal consisting of the superposition of useful echoes and significant noise.

The challenge, then, is to identify the useful signal amid the surrounding noise. To do this, we need to find the best processing method, which can generally be reduced to the standard diagram shown in Figure 23 :
