5. Models for virtual reality
5.1 Geometric models
As far as geometry is concerned, the problem is to describe the shape of an object in mathematical form. We shall see that, in the case of solid objects, the representation of the boundary between the inside and outside of an object is sufficient to describe it. The question of how to acquire these models from real objects will also be addressed.
The second stage consists in modeling the behavior of objects in relation to light, i.e. associating photometric properties with the materials of which they are made, as well as algorithms for calculating images (among other things) in real time.
