Antenna consisting of one or more metal wires of lengths close to the wavelength. Directivity is a few decibels.

printed antenna; patch antenna

Antenna consisting of a ground plane and a dielectric on which a metallic pattern of any shape is printed. Directivity can be as high as ten decibels.

slot antenna

Aperture in a metal guide or plane constituting a radiating aperture. Lengths are close to the wavelength, directivity is a few decibels.

horn antenna; horn antenna

Gradual transition between a guide and free space. The size of the horn opening can be as small as a few wavelengths, and the directivity varies from 10 to 25 decibels.
