5. Conclusion

Active sonars are used by a wide variety of platforms, while passive sonars are used mainly by SMs. This undoubtedly explains the difference in the volume of open literature relating to these two fields, as submariners are not particularly talkative. This difference in the volume of sources no doubt explains why this article is longer than the one on passive [RAD 6 712] .

There are many other differences between passive and active: we've touched on many of them in the course of this article, whether in terms of theory (TS, GT), technology (DNA, transducers...)...
