2. Family of ISMS standards

The benefits of implementing an ISMS will primarily derive from a reduction in information security risk (e.g., a reduction in the probability and/or impact of information security incidents).

More specifically, the benefits of adopting the WSIS family of standards include :

• support for the process of running an integrated, aligned, comprehensive and cost-effective ISMS that meets the needs of the organization across different sites and operating modes;

• support for management in structuring its approach to information security management, within the context of corporate governance and risk management, including education and training of managers in the overall management of information security;
