4. Uses of the periodic table

The periodic table can be used to determine various parameters of an atom, which can be used to study chemical reactions. The whole point of classification is to group elements into families of compounds with similar properties, by placing them according to similarity of electronic configuration. It is therefore logical to find elements with similar properties in the same group (column). These properties vary over the course of a period, and it is possible to predict certain properties by means of periodic laws based on the atomic number Z: atomic radius, ionic radius, density, ionization potential, electronegativity, electroaffinity, melting and vaporization temperatures, magnetic properties and thermal and electrical conductivities. Let's take a look at some of these properties.
