4. Advantage

The debinding step is a crucial stage in the manufacture of parts using the PIM process. During this stage, the thermoplastic binder is removed by a process adapted to its nature.

This operation must be perfectly controlled, as it can cause damage to the part. Poorly controlled degradation of the binder can lead to cracking-type defects, as well as chemical pollution from carbon residues.

4.1 Different techniques

Debinding parameters (temperature, atmosphere, etc.) depend not only on the nature of the binder, but also on the nature of the powder (metallic or ceramic).
