2. Compact metals and alloys

Compact or very low-porosity parts or blanks can be obtained by various means, including forging after sintering, hot pressing or deformation processes such as rolling or extrusion.

These products are the subject of this paragraph.

Here, we wish to mention the physical or mechanical characteristics of certain metals and alloys obtained by these processes, because they are of a general nature.

2.1 Ductile metals

High-melting-temperature metals (W, Mo, Ta, Nb, Re) are most often produced by sintering, as this produces crystals fine enough for further processing.
