4. Generalization

The vibrations and alternating stresses generated by turbomachinery are one of the fundamental phenomena to be taken into account in its design. Fatigue cracking is one of the main causes of damage, and monitoring dynamic behavior gives an excellent idea of the machine's health.

Two examples have been given in this article to highlight certain behaviors, without being exhaustive on the subjects covered.
