Impedancemetry
Electrochemical impedance spectrometry (impedancemetry) is a technique that allows detailed characterisation of the different electrochemical reactions present on the surface of the metal which corrodes. It is thus possible to separate the effects of the currents implicated in the stationary dissolution of the metal from those linked to the currents implicated in changes to surface states:
either in the liquid (double layer capacity on contact with the metal),
or on the solid (adsorbates, film growth).
