8. Aerogels: "model" materials

Due to their mode of synthesis by aggregation, their biphasic nature and their fractal characteristics, gels have often been considered as real materials for testing certain physical theoretical models. We propose to verify whether certain approaches used in the literature, concerning aggregation mechanisms, aggregate structure and the supposed evolution of the physical properties of the gel network, are in agreement with experimental results.
