1. Optics and organic materials
It is widely accepted that the development of optics – and, more specifically, of photonics – will revolutionize everyday life in the years to come, with the rise of optoelectronics. Organic materials will play a predominant role in this ongoing revolution, although they will be handicapped by their still too-limited robustness. In this context, the aim here is not to give an exhaustive account of all the fields of optics in which organic materials, and more specifically polymers functionalized by specific molecules with optimized properties, are pushing back the limits of mineral materials or opening up new prospects for applications
