6. Our advice

6.1 Pay particular attention to powdery materials

All powdered materials, whether natural or manufactured, contain a proportion of ultrafine nanoparticles.

It is necessary to assess both the quantity by weight and the number of nanomaterials present in powders, and then to determine their specific toxicity. This toxicity can be added to that of the material, whose particles are larger than a micron in size and have different physico-chemical properties to nanoparticles.
