3. OECD Test No. 406: Skin sensitization, Buehler method: skin applications only

3.1 Induction

  • Day 0 – test group: one flank is shaved (close shave). The test patch must be completely saturated with the test substance in a suitable vehicle (the choice of vehicle must be justified; liquid test substances may be applied undiluted if necessary). The test patch is applied to the test area and is kept in contact with the skin for 6 hours using an occlusive dressing or a cup and an appropriate dressing. A dry patch is applied to the flank of the animals in the control group. The test patch should be occlusive and should measure approximately 4 to 6 cm 2 .
