11. Gas sensors

The different types of sensor are as follows.

• Solid electrolyte probes (figure 44 )

  • oxygen sensor, air reference (figure 44 a): the gas flows through an electrolyte tube; two electrodes measure the emf between the platinum wire of the thermocouple and the platinum wire connected to the reference electrode. Figure 44 b shows the model used for internal combustion engines;
