1. Identify procedures to be created or reviewed
Procedures have contributed to giving the quality management system a bad image: too rigid, too administrative, too cumbersome... Good news, they're disappearing in the 2015 version of IS0 9001! Don't rejoice, it's just a question of vocabulary...
Until the 2008 version, ISO 9001 imposed six mandatory procedures, all relating to quality management. The 2015 version has removed this requirement, and it is now up to the company to define which procedures are or are not necessary for its smooth operation.
If your company is not yet certified, you'll need to identify the procedures that need to be created. If your company is already certified, don't throw your procedures out with the bathwater!
