5. Supercapacitors

Their development makes it possible to store energy from braking, which is then released to assist starting by limiting inrush currents to the contact line, thus reducing line losses. Above all, this technology makes it possible to dispense with modestly long unpowered zones – up to one kilometer long, currently – either for contact line maintenance, or in sectors where the contact line is not installed for aesthetic reasons .
