3. Laminar flows

In practice, the balance equations [BE 8 153] , which are all partial differential equations, very often coupled to each other, can only be used to obtain analytical solutions of flows in very few simple cases. In the vast majority of cases, solutions must be entirely numerical. However, laminar flow can be solved analytically, in the case of incompressible Newtonian fluids, by the Navier-Stokes equations for certain steady-state conservative flow configurations. Depending on the boundary conditions, the results differ. Among these analytical solutions are those for the following flows:
