8. Regulatory framework
In the absence of a consensus on the definition and level of action of endocrine disruptors, there are no specific regulations for endocrine disruptors. These substances are therefore covered by existing legislation on chemicals and biocides, particularly as regards CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction) hazardous chemical agents.
8.1 European regulations
Endocrine disruptors are taken into account under the REACH regulation (EC no. 1907/2006), which applies to the registration, evaluation and authorization of chemical substances, as well as the restrictions applicable to these substances; the aim is to prevent the marketing of chemical products without their potential hazards having been assessed.
