Document; document

Information carrier and the information it contains.

The medium may be paper, a magnetic, electronic or optical computer disk, a photograph or a standard sample, or a combination of these.

A set of documents (e.g. specifications and records) is commonly referred to as "documentation".

Some requirements (e.g. the readability requirement) apply to all document types, but there may be different requirements for specifications (e.g. the revision control requirement) and records (e.g. the retrieval requirement).
