1. What are the first steps in accident management?
An accident is an event, generally undesired, which occurs at a specific time, as a result of one or more causes, and which causes damage to people, property or the environment.
No accident happens without a cause. When an accident is witnessed, the cause may still be present and may lead to another accident; this is known as over-accident. To manage the first few minutes after an accident (avoid over-accident, take care of victims, etc.), you need to apply the PAS technique (protect – alert – rescue).
