What's the difference between an interlaboratory study and an interlaboratory comparison?

An interlaboratory comparison is a procedure used to verify the suitability of a laboratory. The Proficiency Testing sheet [FIC 1419] describes this type of procedure, which is quite different from an EIL, mainly in the use of different analytical methods. The main aim of an inter-laboratory comparison is to assess a laboratory's suitability, not a method's reliability.
