1.1 Chirality and molecular structure
Chirality is the geometric property that characterizes the fact that an object and its image in a mirror are not superimposable.
Isomers in which only the spatial arrangement of atoms differs are called stereoisomers. Two stereoisomers are said to be enantiomers if and only if they are mirror images of each other. The original molecule and its image are called antipodes; an equimolar mixture of antipodes is called a racemate.
