7. Conclusion
The multiplicity of interventions required to safeguard the waterlogged wooden heritage described in this article highlights the complexity of the problem. The initial state of the object - its volume, its state of degradation, the environmental conditions of the excavations from which it came, the presence of other associated materials, both organic and inorganic (metals, glass and mineral concretions) - all raise questions about the choice of removal techniques, conservation treatments, restoration interventions and preventive conservation recommendations, all in compliance with the strict deontology of heritage conservation. These are all questions that need to be answered on a case-by-case basis, after careful analysis, and as part of an overall project that also includes subsequent museography.
