6. Conclusion

Recent developments in separation mechanisms have led to increasingly resolutive separations, thus widening the field of application of high-performance ion chromatography. Table 3 illustrates the diversity of inorganic ions that can be separated.

In parallel with these separation-related developments, detection methods have improved their performance, making this method an ever-evolving, high-performance analytical tool, as we shall see in Part Two ( [P 1 451] ).
