5. Multi-element settings

5.1 Steps

  • Activation of the transducer elements by an electrical pulse applied according to a delay law produces an ultrasonic beam: this is called firing.

    On reception, each element of the aperture detects a so-called elementary signal. The signal generally recorded for a shot is the sum of the elementary signals received over the entire aperture. For a more detailed analysis of echoes, some advanced systems can record elementary signals (§ 7.1
