2. Mass determination

Determining the mass of a weight involves comparing it with a known reference standard, using a mass comparator. For each comparison, the nominal mass of the weight to be calibrated and that of the reference standard must be equal.

Depending on the measurement uncertainty required, one of the following methods can be used.

2.1 Comparator drift

  • Measurement cycle (figure 1 )

    1/ The comparator is set to zero with the standard placed on the plate.

    2/ The indication is read (for example: 0.00000 g).

    3/ The standard is removed from the tray, then the mass to be...
